About Us
Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond (LRGR) started in the hearts of a handful of dedicated individuals. Compassion for the neglected and homeless led to creating LRGR in the Central Virginia area. In the spring of 2006, LRGR began its life-saving work of rescuing Labradors from euthanasia in Virginia shelters. During the first year, LRGR rescued 30 abandoned Labradors from local shelters. Today we rescue more than 100 Labradors each year. Over the years, LRGR has been able to expand our rescue effort to the states of West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
From inception with just a few dedicated volunteers, to today with more than 100 volunteers, LRGR has changed the lives of many Labradors in need. With loving foster families, friendly adoption coordinators to kind-hearted transporters ,our team of passionate, steadfast volunteers allows us to complete our mission.
LRGR has endless gratitude to our financial supporters. We would not be able to continue our work without financial assistance from our followers. Adoption fees alone do not cover the veterinary expenses. Through the generosity of our supporters, we are able to provide life- saving surgeries, critical medical treatments along with routine veterinary care.
While we may never know the struggles or pain that a rescue dog has been through, the happiness of going home can always be seen.
