Available Dogs

These are a few of the dogs currently available through Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond. Please check our Petfinder site as well. New dogs are posted there as well.

If you are interested in adopting a Lab from us, please submit a completed application. Please allow up to 10 days to hear from us if you mail your application to us. If you submit your application online, or by e-mail, you can expect to hear from us within one week. Please be patient as we are all volunteers. Once we receive your completed application, one of our volunteer adoption coordinators will contact you for an interview and explain our process. If you are approved, the coordinator will work with you to match you with your new family member. Please keep in mind that we make every attempt to find the right home for each individual dog, taking into account their history, behaviors, etc.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. The adoption process requires an approved application, a contract and a non-refundable adoption fee of $250.00 for dogs up to 7 years of age and $200.00 for dogs 8 years old and over. Adoptions are contingent on the successful completion of a home visit either before or following the adoption. If you have questions about our process, please e-mail us or give us a call. Thanks for your interest in adopting a Lab!

Summer (#12-012)

Summer is an 8 yr old (in May) girl who enjoys other dogs and has lived with cats. Summer's favorite activity is retrieving. She enjoys going on walks and is learning not to pull on lead. Summer is new to us so check back for updates. To be considered as Summers' human, please submit an application.
Summer qualifies for reduced rate theraputic/recreational swimming at Paws to Swim for life!!

Joe (#12-006)

Baby Joey is 12 weeks old. He was dumped at a local police department in this horrible condition. He has a severe case of demodex, which is being treated by Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond. This condition will take up to 2 months to clear. Joey is a bit uncomfortable, but his tail never stops wagging. He loves to be played with, held, and marches around exploring everything. Though he is only 12 weeks old, Joey is a laid back dude who will go to his crate and take a rest.

Update: Joey, now at 17 weeks, is healing nicely. The redness is gone, the sores have healed and is hair is starting to grow back. While Joey has been healing from demodex,he has been working on his basic commands. Joey knows sit, down, stay, and my favorite "Leave It"

Please help support Joey and his recovery by donating today. Thank you to all who have supported this little boy.  With your generousity, he is healing nicely and feeling like a puppy again.  WOOF!

Cain (#11-025)

Cain came to us many months ago begging for help. This 5 year old neutered boy is sweeter than honey. He adores people, and will follow you around all day. Cain enjoys walks and sniffing the whole wide world. He is cratetrained (though he doesn't need to be crated), loves his chew bone, and settles at your feet nicely. From his fosters: "Cain is the silliest dog we've met. He wants to play with his foster sister so badly, but she is too dignified for that kind of play. But he doesn't stop trying , because one day she just might notice him". Retrieving is a favorite passtime, as is watching the squirrels scurry up trees. Cain weighs in at 84 lbs., good with dogs, kids 6+, and ready for 2012 to be his year. To be considered for this awesome lab/hound mix, please complete an application today.
