Available Dogs

These are a few of the dogs currently available through Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond. Please check our Petfinder site as well. New dogs are often posted there first.

If you are interested in adopting a Lab from us, please submit a completed application. Please allow up to one week to hear from us if you mail your application to us. If you submit your application online, or by e-mail, you can expect to hear from us within 10 days. Please be patient as we are all volunteers. Once we receive your completed application, one of our volunteer adoption coordinators will contact you for an interview and explain our process. If you are approved, the coordinator will work with you to match you with your new family member. Please keep in mind that we make every attempt to find the right home for each individual dog, taking into account their history, behaviors, etc.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. The adoption process requires an approved application, a contract and a non-refundable adoption fee of $250.00 for dogs up to 7 years of age and $200.00 for dogs 8 years old and over. Adoptions are contingent on the successful completion of a home visit either before or following the adoption. If you have questions about our process, please e-mail us or give us a call. Thanks for your interest in adopting a Lab!

Avery (#10-010)

Avery- One of four sisters that have asked for help. She is enjoying her human big brother, and playing in the snow. She has had her first vaccines, and is loving chewing on her toys. At 10 weeks old, she has the world ahead of her. Would you like to show her how good life can be? Complete an application and a volunteer will contact you.

Spring (#10-009)

Spring-The third of the brood, Spring loves the snow. She romps all around, plops down, catches her breath, and heads out again. Spring, and her sister Summer, have started to understand walking on a leash, once they saw their foster brother marching down the road. So off they went. At 10 weeks old, Spring plays hard, and rests harder. To be considered for one of the puppies, please complete an application.

Summer (#10-008)

Summer asked for us to help her sisters and herself. They are 10 weeks old, have had their first round of vaccines, are loving, enjoy being held, and eating well. They pranced right into their foster home and took over the foster brothers bed, climbed over him to nestle for a nap, and he said "fine". They like hunting for sticks, and playing with a tennis ball. Please complete an application if interested.

Complete an application if interested.

Charzy (Charizard) (#10-006)

This loving boy has come to us asking for help. He wants to live inside with his people, and wants to find his waistline again. He tips the scale around 117 lbs. He should weigh about 90lbs. He will be seen by our vet to determine his needs for weight loss. Charizard is an AKC 10 year old chocolate male, who knows his basic commands of sit, down, come, shake. One of his all time favorite things to do is swim. Can you offer him a healthy lifestyle? Can you offer him love and companionship? Consider this sweet loving boy for your own and complete an application today.

Cody 2
(#10-005)

Cody 2 is a really very friendly boy and very playful. Pet him and he reduces to the floor looking to get his belly rubbed. He is getting along well with his 3 foster dogs. He knows sit with a hand signal and command. He knows to come when called Cody and he comes on command. We are working with him on lead but right now he gets distracted easily and is all over the place. He likes to chase the tennis ball and sometimes will bring it back. He's good in the crate at night . He's a quiet dog, hardly barks but he did chime in when a FedEx guy came up the driveway. Weighing in at 85 lbs., Cody is a big 1.5 year old. His housetraining is going very well. Being new to Lab Rescue, please give him time, and check back soon for updates. To be considered for Cody, please complete an application.

Tucker (#10-004)

It's happened again. A little boy has asked for our help. Tucker is about 1 year of age, and sweet as can be. He loves to retrieve, and is learning to give it back in order to play again. After a fun game of fetch, he enjoys a few ice cubes to cool down. Still having many of his puppy mannerisms, as in smacking his ice cubes with his paw to "get it", he will listen and learn quickly. Tucker needs some help with leash manners, and is catching on very quickly how to enjoy a walk. His foster sisters have welcomed him into their pack, which he is enjoying. He doesn't mind cats, just wonders what they are. Complete an application and a volunteer will contact you.

Sam (#10-001)

A yellow boy of 9 years, he is an active, loving lab. He chases after a ball, but bringing it back is not his cup of tea. If you want a lap lab, he is the one for you. He will shower you with affection, loves giving kisses and is quite laid back. Sam is very well mannered; only gets on furniture when invited, he goes and lays down without being told when his humans are eating. This boy enjoys his foster sister, who is a 2 year old lab, and keeps up with her all day, so don't let his age fool you. Loving the water, he is also good with cats, kids, and dogs. He would love his forever home for the New Year. Complete an application to be considered for this sweet boy.

Sasha (#10-002)

My name is Sasha, I am 9 years old and looking for a new forever home. Meantime, I'm beginning to settle in with my new foster family. It took me a little while, but I watched my foster brother for a day or so, figured out his favorite, comfy spots, then took them over as mine! I love the dog bed, the dog blanket in the den, and laying in front of the door in the sunshine. I don't think he minds sharing - after all, I am the lady of the house!! I enjoy taking a walk and having my belly rubbed - in fact, I groan to let you know just how much I love it. I would love to be a part of your family - just give me a chance to wrap you around my paw and submit an application!

Tessie (#09-028)

Coming to us at the young age of 10 years, Miss Tessie is smiling on the world. She rides great in the car, and stands at the door waiting for another excursion. This sweetheart walks well on lead, is up to date on shots, spayed, and ready for her new home. Tessie gets along well with other dogs, and her foster sister insists on cleaning her face for her! She doesn't mind a bit. At 65 lbs, she is a smaller lab, but her love is not. She will stay close to you the minute you decide rubbing her is the thing to do. Although she is ten years old, she is fit and healthy. Tessie just wants her forever home to love her, care for her, and give her a comfy bed to lie on. Can you offer this to her? Complete an application and a volunteer will contact you. See Tessie in action. See Tessie in action (.MOV, 6 MB)
